Athea National School is a Catholic Primary School which strives to provide the children of our community with a caring, happy and secure learning environment, a school where each individual is valued, encouraged and respected for their uniqueness and facilitated to reach their full potential.
We are very proud of our high academic standards to which we have always aspired. Our children are given opportunities to experience all aspects of a broad and balanced school curriculum. Our students have been very successful in numerous National competitions such as Discovery Primary Science and Maths, BT Young Scientist Competition, The Junior Entrepreneur Programme, Doodle4Google and Green Flag to mention just a few. We are also very proud of the fact that some of our past pupils are now entering the teaching profession and are returning to our school for their work experience.
Athea National School has seen considerable change in recent years. With a staff of 12 teachers and 8 Special Needs Assistants, it has become one of the largest schools in West Limerick. Athea School is also the only school to have two special classes for children with Autism, an Early Intervention Class and a Preschool. We are very proud to be able to provide such a service.
The current school population is 147 pupils.
